Last night at Stromness Town Hall George Anderson from TV’s Beechgrove Garden entertained over sixty people at an event run by Stromness Community Garden. This isn’t the first time the Beechgrove Garden has come to Stromness, over a decade ago the team came to Gunnie Moberg’s garden at Don, Outertown. In the archive we have the footage from April 2003 of Gunnie in her garden.

In the piece Gunnie talked about the prevailing wind direction at Don (all four) and the challenges of gardening in such an exposed site ‘There is nothing between me and Canada’. She also talked about her inclination to give up photography to concentrate on gardening, and how photographer and friend Fay Godwin had helped her see what was happening ‘I know what you are going to do, make a garden and photograph it’.
