Congratulations to our neighbours Grieveship Residents Association for the restoration of an old path up Brinkie’s Brae from the side of the Marwick Playing Fields, located behind the Grieveship estate. The path had become unusable due to large amounts of surface water from numerous springs and blocked drains. With some funding the residents made a new raised path surface and cut new drains to take away the water. The path has opened up this route to Brinkie’s Brae from the Marwick Playing Fields, and the Community Garden!

To access the path walk up Grieveship Road, which runs along the north part of the estate up from Back Road, to the top. At the gates into the playing field, carry straight on up the new path to the lower side of Brinkie’s Brae. Turn right at the top of the new path to reach to summit for wonderful views across to Scapa Flow, Hoy and the Brodgar monuments.

Why not make a longer walk and visit the community garden as well through the gate at the top of the Marwick Playing Fields. You can walk through the garden site and access Brownstown Road.
